About Us…

Welcome to Layton Avenue Baptist Church. Grow in faith, serve with purpose express what we would like to accomplish as a congregation. From preschoolers to senior adults we want you to know about Jesus and what it means to believe in him and to follow him as a disciple. Jesus calls us to love our neighbors as ourselves, he also entrusts to us the responsibility of being on mission. This is where the serve with purpose part comes in.
Our Pastor

Since my youth, I have felt the call to preach the Word, and pastor a local church. My degree from the Moody Bible Institute is in Ministry Leadership with an emphasis in Preaching. In addition, I have many years of experience in the service industry, which has helped me relate well to hardworking people from all walks of life.
My wife Beth and I recently celebrated 15 years of marriage. We have been blessed with four children.
I love to preach, shepherd, counsel, listen, laugh, pray, and get to know people on a personal level. I have a heart for those who are hurting, having experienced much hurt in my own life, and I am determined to use those experiences for God’s glory.
Lastly, I believe Jesus Christ is our living hope for the world. The gospel we proclaim is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes. When we focus on exalting Christ, everything else falls into place.
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21
As you explore our website we hope that you’ll see ways in which we are seeking to be faithful in our service. Check out our Soup for the Soul Ministry and Bible Study offerings. Another way for you to know more about us is to visit our Facebook page or YouTube Channel.
The best way to learn more about us is to be our guest some Sunday morning at our Worship service, 10:45 a.m. You’ll find a warm welcome and we look forward to meeting you. If you have questions, please email or call the office and someone would be glad to talk with you.

The stylized Cross in our logo represents the memorial Cross adorning the front of our building. On December 30, 2002, Kathy Gariety and two other missionaries were killed by a terrorist in Yemen. A longtime youth leader at our church, Kathy was commissioned in 1992 to serve the Jibla Hospital there as a purchasing and supply agent. Kathy was an artist in her own right, leading the church to believe that a special design was needed to remember her.
We belong to the Southern Baptist Convention and adhere to the theological and doctrinal statements of the SBC. The SBC is a collection of like-minded churches working in cooperation with one another to impact the whole world with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
